La Poesía de la Comida
What we did!
In this project we translated a recipe from Spanish into English, and wrote an ode to an ingredient in our recipe we chose to translate. We were assessed on cooking vocabulary, and learned how to conjugate verbs in the command tense (calienta=heat, añade=add. and so on. At exhibition, we got to show off our dish, translated recipe, ode, and table tent poster about the country where our dish was from.

What I Learned
I had a lot of fun learning was all about my country and it culture through it's food!
Arte y Lengua
In this project we started off picking a Spanish artist of our choice and studying his/her art and life in detail: where he/she lives, what type of art they do, who inspired them, extra. After studying them and there art extensively we started in on our own art work. We spent many hours in and out of class working on on our art and at long last we where finished our art piece and started preparing for the exhibition. We made six note cards with 6 general questions and answer on them. Then, at the exhibition, we talked to other Spanish speakers about our art using our note cads as the back bone of our conversation.
This is the paper that we wrote about our artist, our work, and how they relate.
During this project, I learned about new artists, but I also gained new vocabulary and Spanish speaking skills. In class, we studied artists like Picasso, Dalí, Frida Kahlo, in the midst of studying our own mentor, which allowed us to see all of the diversity in Spanish artwork and artists. When writing my Artist Statement, I gained new vocabulary, as well as a better sense of how to form sentences. In this project, I was really proud of my final art piece, i used oil palstels and used a bold color scheme I would warm them up so that i could mold and blend them to make them more unique and expressive I then finished by spraying a finish spray over the whole peace to seal it and stop any smearing from happening, it came out simple, but bold and very colorful. I am proud of my final result.
The Exhibition with Del Alma
La exposición con Del Alma
In this project we made children story for both in Durango CO and a South American country of our choice. We used only what knowledge of Spanish we had and a dictionary but my favorite part was probably the exhibition. It was a lot of fun for me. We got to work with all the kids almost all of them where so shy but as soon as we started reading they became so open and ready to learn about our lives. This was a super fun exhibition because it was so casual. Most are very stressful for me but this one was so fun because we could just talk to the kids and not worry about making a good impression on the community.

Books!
I started a little slow on this project but now I think that it was really valuable for me, I haven’t liked Spanish much this year just because I don’t like the way that Spanish is taught in almost all schools around the country for me the objective of Spanish class is to learn to speak it. And if students want to become a master of it they should just go to a Spanish speaking country or take it as a core class not just as required part of graduation. If we did this then we would not have to wade through all the kids that are tired of memorizing seemly pointless vocabulary. I have probably the most reason to learn Spanish because I need to communicate with my business partners. I need to learn how to communicate in a conversational tone. Maybe learning to write the language is the best way to learn to say it and maybe I am speaking out of turn but I have a hard time understanding the method of teaching that is used in most schools.
My Reflection About the Project
Mi reflexión del trabajo
From this project, I will take many things away. I will take away my significant growth in vocabulary, grammar skills, and cultural awareness. These are all significant growths I have made during this project that I am very proud of. I am also proud of my books that I created, because I feel they are beautiful work, and I worked very hard on them. If I were to do this project again, I wouldn’t have taken on such an ambitious project. It ended up taking a lot more time than I expected, although I made due. One thing I found challenging about this project was the research, and I was very surprised at how different my life would be in a different country. The habit of heart and mind I used most during this project was perseverance. It was a lot of hard work to build to books, and I had to stay focused and keep going to get it done on time. One thing I want the world to know about this project, is that it opened my eyes to the world around me, and made me reflect, not only on how grateful I should be, but how different my life would be somewhere else.
